February 21, 22 and 23 saw three of the outstanding milestone moments of FACILITATORS, ERGO and ESROCOS, respectively, with the holding of the Critical Design Reviews (CDRs) to set out detailed designs and prototypes.
The goal of the FACILITATORS CDR was to review the design of the adaptations to the facilities needed for the execution of the test campaigns for all the OGs and the description of the test scenarios to be performed.
Each partner of the team has presented the work performed: GMV presented the adaptations of its platform-art facility, DLR the adaptation of the OOS-sim and PEL laboratories, and of the Exomars BB2 rover, DFKI presented the adaptations to the SherpaTT rover, Airbus the adaptations of the Bridget rover and the Mars Yard; moreover, DFKI presented the details of the organization of the field test campaign.
The meeting showed clear advances of the tasks, nevertheless some difficulties will be faced off, especially in the field tests, that are being challenging at both organizational and technical level.
These CDRs were attended by partners from the consortium of each project, plus the European Commission’s technical officer and PSA representatives for assessment of the final result, a resounding success in all cases. The projects of the first SRC call thus cross their equator and embark on the final phase, which will see the start of implementation of all developed technology.
